18. How Dancing Tango Led to Moving from Seattle to Buenos Aires

Episode 18:
Originally from a small town in Oklahoma, Jamila closed her private practice in Seattle and bought a flight to Argentina in 2012 calling it a sabbatical with a plan to stay for a year, learn Spanish and manage a friend’s guest house. It was a one-way ticket.
Fully immersed in Buenos Aire’s tango scene, she hosted tango dancers from all over the world and found herself in the milongas every night until 5 or 6 in the morning. 8 years later she has become a vibrant member of the tango and ex-pat community. She now manages a new guest house with a friend for dancers that want to study tango in Buenos Aires. She started a tango tour company that introduces tourists from all over the world to the local tango scene. She has also learned to balance her late-night tango habit with a new online private practice and has created that life she always dreamed about.
