Meet Nafeesah

Dr. Nafeesah Allen is a multi-passionate and multilingual communications professional who wears many hats. Since studying abroad in Spain in high school, she's been a global nomad. In 2009, she officially joined the US State Department as a Foreign Service Officer, and throughout her career, she has also studied abroad in India and South Africa. As a Visiting Scholar of Forced Migration at the University of the Witwatersrand, she's well versed in Indian Ocean Migration and cultural continuities of Asian and African descendant groups. Her book on the subject will be released by Palgrave in 2022.

This married mom of two is also a serial entrepreneur. She is a freelance writer for internationally acclaimed magazines like Real Simple, Dwell, Parents, etc., and works with PR and start-ups for ghostwriting. She launched BlackHistoryBookshelf.com in 2020 and continues to grow its selection of books about Black life around the globe. And in Oct 2021, she released her self-published, bilingual children's books "Xavier, the Superhero" and "Xiomara, the Superhero." Both titles are available in Spanish and Portuguese on Amazon.com
