From Basketball to Serial Entrepreneurship in Andorra with Sheila Dixon

SEASON 4 EPISODE 8 |Flourish in the Foreign - Black Women Living & Thriving Abroad

Shelia shares her story of going abroad to play basketball in Scotland, then in Barcelona. She shares the strain that her decision to live abroad has caused with her family, how she prepared for life after basketball, being a serial entrepreneur, living in Andorra, and how she navigates her intercultural relationship.

Meet Sheila:

Sheila hails from New York but has been overseas now since 2014 - with stops in Scotland, Spain, and Andorra (presently). While her pro basketball career is what took her abroad, it is love and the desire for a better, different life that has ultimately kept her in Europe. She is a graduate of Brown University with a B.A. in Political Science and she received her master's at the prestigious University of Edinburgh in Sport Policy, Management, and International Development. It was the very intensive program at Edinburgh that captured Sheila's true interest in what she wanted to do with her life. Create a business (or businesses) in the world she knows best: But it wasn't until she got to Barcelona that she realized how to get it started. She is a growing serial entrepreneur with companies in Spain, Andorra, and the U.S. and thrives on the hustle to build a life for herself and her loved ones while also impacting the lives of others through the beauty of sports and the advancement of education.
